On June 17, Asst. Prof. Dr. Orapen Sukhavulli , Dean of the School of Nursing at Walailak University, along with a group of faculty members, visited the School of Health Sciences at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). They were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Hamid Jan Jan Mohamed, Deputy Dean, Dr. Intan Idiana Binti Hassan, and other nursing faculty members.

This visit aimed to strengthen the ongoing partnership between the two institutions, which have been collaborating for the past year under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The meeting focused on planning further academic activities and student exchange programs.

Key discussions included sending nursing students from Walailak University to hospitals in Malaysia for clinical training, exploring training sites, visiting student dormitories, and studying the student support systems at USM. The delegation also observed nursing laboratories to gain insights for improving facilities at Walailak’s School of Nursing.

As a result of the visit, both parties agreed to begin mutual student exchanges. Walailak students will have the opportunity to train in Malaysian hospitals, while USM students will visit Walailak University for health care and cultural exchange activities, as well as participate in community health promotion projects in Thailand. The collaboration will also expand to include joint research initiatives in the future.

This visit marks another step forward in building a strong academic partnership between Walailak University and Universiti Sains Malaysia, enhancing nursing education and cultural understanding between the two institutions.
