As part of the Student Mobility Program between the School of Nursing, Walailak University, Thailand, and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Malaysia, nursing students from IIUM participated in a clinical study visit at Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital, where they gained valuable learning experiences across four specialized clinical units: the Stroke Unit, Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat (EENT) Unit, Orthopedic Unit, and Gynecology Unit.

The visiting students received a warm welcome from Ms. Janruam Phaengyotha, Deputy Director of Nursing, and Ms. Somjit Yodrabam, Deputy Head of Nursing for Academic Affairs, together with the head nurses and nursing staff of the respective clinical units.

Throughout the clinical study visit, the IIUM students were closely guided by the head nurses and healthcare professionals in each unit, as well as faculty members from the School of Nursing, Walailak University, who facilitated their clinical learning and academic exchange:

• Stroke Unit: Asst. Prof. Suphakarn Opasrattanakorn and Lect. Sopida Thipsawat
• EENT Unit: Asst. Prof. Dr. Chidchanok Mayuraphak
• Orthopedic Unit: Lect. Pornariya Jaidee
• Gynecology Unit: Lect. Saowanee Chaiyawan

During the visit, the students had opportunities to observe nursing care and clinical practices in different specialty areas, learn about patient management within the Thai healthcare context, and exchange knowledge and experiences with nursing professionals. The clinical exposure enabled the students to broaden their understanding of nursing roles, multidisciplinary healthcare services, and patient-centered care across various clinical settings.

This clinical study visit served as an important component of the Student Mobility Program, providing meaningful opportunities for cross-cultural learning, professional development, and international academic exchange. It also contributed to strengthening the academic partnership between the School of Nursing, Walailak University, and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), while promoting international collaboration and global learning experiences in nursing education.
