Walailak University’s School of Nursing Conducts Emergency and Disaster Simulation for Nursing Students
On January 31, 2026, the School of Nursing at Walailak University organized an extracurricular project titled “Learning and Practicing through Emergency and Disaster Simulations” for the second semester of the 2025 academic year. Part of the NUR63-418 Emergency and Disaster Management course, the project was coordinated by Asst. Prof. Sirikarn Suttisomporn and Lecturer Sabai Yesa.
The objective was to equip students with the skills to assess, plan, and analyze disaster management strategies. Students practiced mass casualty triage, basic medical treatment, incident command system (ICS) teamwork, and inter-agency coordination within comprehensive and accurate simulated scenarios.
The project received high praise from the 184 participating students, with satisfaction and self-assessment scores ranging from 4.57 to 4.85 out of 5. Students recommended that the program be held annually, noting that it significantly bridged the gap between theory and practice, fostered teamwork, and enhanced professional communication.
The School of Nursing extends its gratitude to internal and external guest speakers from various organizations, including Maharat Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital, Tha Sala Hospital, the 11th Office of Disease Prevention and Control, and several local rescue teams and jet ski units for their invaluable support.
