Walailak University Nursing Students Lead Community Dengue Prevention Project in Ban Ro
On December 19, 2024, fourth-year nursing students from Walailak University organized a community-based dengue prevention project in Ban Ro-Yang Ngam, engaging local residents, community leaders, volunteers, and health officials to raise awareness and promote innovative mosquito control practices.
The School of Nursing at Walailak University, through its fourth-year nursing students enrolled in the NUR63-474 Community Nursing Practicum course, conducted the project “Ban Ro: United Against Dengue” on December 19, 2024. The initiative took place in Village No. 3, Ban Ro-Yang Ngam, in collaboration with local residents, community leaders, village volunteers, and staff from the Ban Sa-kha Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital.
The project focused on educating the community about dengue prevention, exchanging knowledge on mosquito-borne disease control, and providing practical hands-on experience. Activities included workshops on inspecting mosquito larvae and using local herbal innovations to prevent mosquito breeding and repel mosquitoes.
This initiative not only strengthened community engagement but also empowered residents with practical skills and knowledge to protect themselves and their families from dengue fever. The project exemplifies how nursing students can apply their academic knowledge to address public health challenges in real-world community settings.
