 News: Expert Guest Speakers Share Insights on PTSD and International Research Collaboration
On 12 January 2025, the School of Nursing at Walailak University had the honor of hosting two distinguished guest speakers: Assistant Professor Dr. Thitipong Tankampuan, Associate Dean for Research from Mahidol University, and Assistant Professor Dr. Tamar Rodney from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Their presence brought valuable expertise to the academic and professional development of faculty and students alike.
 
In the morning session, Dr. Tamar Rodney delivered an engaging presentation on the topic, “Early Identification and Management of PTSD in Trauma Patients.” Her talk emphasized the importance of timely interventions in addressing PTSD across various patient populations, shedding light on evidence-based strategies for trauma care in clinical settings.
 
The afternoon session featured a roundtable discussion, where both Dr. Rodney and Dr. Tankampuan provided practical advice and shared their expertise. Dr. Rodney focused on conducting research on PTSD across different populations, including children, adults, and communities, offering invaluable insights into designing impactful studies in this critical area of healthcare.
 
Meanwhile, Dr. Tankampuan shared his perspective on the pros and cons of international research collaborations, highlighting the opportunities and challenges involved. He also offered guidance on establishing and managing collaborative projects that align with global research priorities.
 
The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including future opportunities for research partnerships, strategies for overcoming barriers in international collaborations, and how these partnerships can contribute to teaching, research, and improved patient care.
