As part of The 4^th Global Multiprofessional and Cultural Camp 2026 with SHOWA Medical University, Japan, students from Walailak University and SHOWA Medical University participated in a meaningful cultural exchange activity celebrating the richness of Thai heritage.

The program began with the participants dressing in traditional Thai costumes, providing an opportunity for the Japanese students to experience the elegance and beauty of Thai culture. Wearing traditional attire not only created memorable moments but also deepened their appreciation of Thailand’s cultural identity and customs.

Following the costume activity, the students joined a hands-on workshop on weaving traditional Thai fish ornaments (Pla Tapian) using coconut leaves. Guided by Thai students, participants learned the traditional techniques of folding and weaving coconut leaves into fish-shaped crafts, a symbol of abundance, prosperity, and local wisdom in Thai culture.

The activity encouraged creativity, teamwork, and cross-cultural communication while allowing students from both universities to share experiences, build friendships, and gain a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures. Through these engaging cultural activities, the camp continued to strengthen international collaboration and foster mutual respect and lifelong connections between Walailak University and SHOWA Medical University.
