School of Nursing, Walailak University Enhances Faculty Research Capacity and Student Learning Through International Faculty Collaboration with IIUM

The School of Nursing, Walailak University, successfully organized the “Enhancement of Faculty Research Capacity and Student Learning Through International Faculty Collaboration program from 31 May to 5 June 2026. The program welcomed three distinguished visiting professors from the Kulliyyah of Nursing, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM):

  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Nur Ain Mahat
  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Muzaitul Akma Mustapa Kamal Basha
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wan Hasliza Binti Wan Mamat

The program aimed to strengthen academic collaboration between the two institutions while enhancing faculty research capacity, enriching student learning experiences, and promoting internationalization in nursing education and research.

During their visit, the visiting professors delivered a series of academic lectures for undergraduate nursing students on Health Innovation, sharing valuable insights into innovative healthcare practices and health innovation initiatives in the Malaysian context. These lectures provided students with international perspectives on emerging trends in healthcare and nursing practice.

To promote research collaboration, the visiting professors participated in a research sharing session with faculty members of the School of Nursing. The session focused on sharing ongoing research projects, discussing future collaborative research opportunities, and exchanging research interests between both institutions. In addition, the professors shared practical techniques and strategies for developing successful research grant proposals, providing valuable guidance for strengthening research competitiveness.

As part of the academic program, the visiting professors also conducted academic visits to Walailak University Hospital and participated in field visits to affiliated community health settings, including home visits for patients with chronic diseases under the care of Ban Sanguan Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital. These visits offered opportunities to exchange experiences in clinical practice, community healthcare services, and chronic disease management between Thailand and Malaysia.

The program also featured an advanced academic lecture for faculty members entitled “Multivariate Analysis: Logistic Regression and Linear Regression, which strengthened participants’ statistical knowledge and research methodology skills. Furthermore, the visiting professors provided individual research consultation sessions, offering expert advice on faculty research interests, study design, data analysis, publication strategies, and future international research collaborations.

This international collaboration reflects the shared commitment of the School of Nursing, Walailak University, and the Kulliyyah of Nursing, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) to advancing excellence in nursing education, research, and academic exchange. The program has further strengthened the longstanding partnership between the two institutions and established a solid foundation for future collaborative initiatives in teaching, research, student mobility, and faculty development.
