Walailak University Nursing Students Promote Child and Youth Safety through “WU Nurse for Safe” Project
On July 10, 2025, the Pediatric and Adolescent Nursing faculty of Walailak University conducted the “WU Nurse for Safe: Strengthening Safety for Children and Youth” project at Wat Sophontitharam (Wat Ro), Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, integrating teaching and community service in collaboration with local partners and the “Mueang Nakorn Non Wat” event organizers.
The Pediatric and Adolescent Nursing faculty at Walailak University organized the “WU Nurse for Safe” project on July 10, 2025, aiming to enhance health promotion and safety awareness among children, youth, and families. Fourth-year nursing students enrolled in NUR63-353 Pediatric and Adolescent Nursing Practicum applied their academic knowledge to educate the community, strengthen student identity, and develop leadership skills as Junior Master Trainers and Junior Helpers through faculty coaching.
The project focused on addressing current societal issues and promoting practical health knowledge, including:
Growth Assessment and Basic Health Promotion: Educating children and families on proper nutrition and oral hygiene.
Current Risks Awareness: Highlighting the dangers of e-cigarettes.
CPR and AED Training: Teaching life-saving skills to children, youth, and community members.
Through this initiative, students gained hands-on experience in community health education, leadership, and coaching, while empowering local children and families with essential knowledge and skills to maintain their health and safety. The project reflects Walailak University’s commitment to integrating academic learning with social responsibility, fostering both professional growth and community well-being.
