Don’t just sit and dig into your books Look at the big wide world and see what it has to offer.
Such as today, we are nursing students who have a chance to find knowledge not only in books or in class but also, we have opportunities to find the knowledge come as far as Japan that is Home Visiting in Japan!
Today is Thursday, May 9, 2024 We have to go for a Home visiting at Fujigaoka, Yokohama city. First of all, The first place we go there is Grand Blue. This is the Staff’s home. Most medical personnel stay here before going to take care of patients. We are here to learn more about Japanese medical care and to know about the role of the doctor, nurse, and the role of other professional teams to provide daily life support for patients in the community.
The next place we have going to is Nursing Medical Center Care. There are patients about 35 people with several diseases and almost all the patients are elderly age. Coming here we learned a lot about patient care in Japan. For example, Music therapy to preserve the pronunciation of the elderly, High-tech for X-rays, feeding patients with nervous system diseases to prevent aspirate pneumonia in the patient, Physical therapy by a dedicated physical therapist by the physical therapist will come for physical therapy 3 times per week, Wound care for patients and Mouth care by a dentist by the dentist will come for mouth care and oral health check 3 times per weeks.
And we had the opportunity to see the food of the patients. The patient’s food has many different types each type of food depends on the doctor’s orders by the Individual of the patients. And the person who prepares food for the patient will be a nutritionist. The nutritionist’s food preparation will be under the supervision of the doctor.
Example of food the food samples shown will be divided according to the patient’s ability to swallow because most of the patients here are elderly and may have problems with swallowing.
The next place we went was a Share House, A share house is a house that has patients in this house 1 room per 4 people and this is a co-payment by the government pays 90% and the patient pays 10% of the total cost. All patients are under the care of doctors and nurses. During the day, there will be nurses coming in every day. But there will be no nurse present at night. But if in an emergency, there will be a button to press to call doctors and nurses to come immediately.
The last place for home visiting is in the patient’s house. There is a house owned by the patient. Doctors and medical personnel come for check-ups 2-3 times a month. Most of the care is provided by the patient’s family members. This type is suitable for patients who do not have complications of diseases. Finally, we have to say thank you to the doctors and professional teams who welcomed us. we really feel extremely grateful for providing knowledge for us and making me know about Japanese medical care systems and know the role of doctors & nurses & nutritionists in providing daily life support. And also, how to treat a patient, The Culture, and The way of life for the patients in the community. We will bring the good things and apply them to Thai patients. And we really thank you for dinner and your taking care of us for today we really appreciate and in the future, we will have a good chance like this to learn something new with you again and welcome to Thailand.
